Panch Kedar is a spiritual tour of the five temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Uttarakhand state of India. It is believed that after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought forgiveness from Lord Shiva for the sins they had committed in the war. Lord Shiva, in response, hid himself in various forms in these temples, and the Pandavas had to find him in each form to seek his blessings.
The Panch Kedar tour starts with the Kedarnath Temple, located at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level. It is the most famous of the five temples and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of a lingam. It is believed that the Pandavas built this temple.The next stop is the Tungnath Temple, which is located at an altitude of 3,680 meters above sea level. It is the highest of the five temples and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of an arm. The trek to this temple is a bit difficult, but the view from the top is breathtaking.
The Rudranath Temple is the third stop on the Panch Kedar tour. It is located at an altitude of 2,286 meters above sea level and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of a face. This temple is surrounded by beautiful meadows and offers a stunning view of the Himalayas.
The fourth stop is the Madhyamaheshwar Temple, located at an altitude of 3,497 meters above sea level. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of a navel. The trek to this temple is also a bit difficult, but the scenic beauty on the way makes it worth the effort.The last stop on the Panch Kedar tour is the Kalpeshwar Temple, located at an altitude of 2,134 meters above sea level. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of hair. This temple is surrounded by dense forests and offers a serene and peaceful environment.

Begin your spiritual adventure with a drive through Devprayag and Rudraprayag to reach Guptkashi. This peaceful town is close to Kedarnath and serves as your first base. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Early morning drive to Sonprayag, then Gaurikund. Start your 16 km trek to Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Arrive by evening, visit the temple, and attend the aarti. Overnight stay at Kedarnath.
After morning darshan, trek back to Gaurikund and return to Guptkashi. Rest and recover after the long journey.
Drive to Ukhimath and then to Ransi Village, the starting point of the Madhyamaheshwar trek. Begin the short trek to Bantoli, a quiet riverside stopover. Overnight stay in tents or basic homestays.
Today you’ll trek through lush forests and scenic valleys to reach Madhyamaheshwar, where Lord Shiva is worshipped in his navel form. Evening aarti and overnight near the temple.
Optional early morning hike to Budha Madhyamaheshwar for Himalayan views. Then trek back to Ransi and drive to Ukhimath. Stay overnight.
Drive to Chopta, also called the mini-Switzerland of India. Begin a short but steep trek (3.5 km) to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. Visit the temple and enjoy the majestic views. Overnight stay at Chopta.
Drive to Sagar Village, the starting point for the Rudranath trek. Begin your trek to Panar Bugyal, a beautiful alpine meadow. Overnight in camps.
Trek to Rudranath Temple, set amidst meadows and clouds. After darshan, return to Panar and spend the night under the stars.
Trek down to Sagar, then drive towards Helang village (near Joshimath) for the final Panch Kedar destination. Overnight stay nearby.
Drive to Urgam Valley and trek around 2.5 km to reach Kalpeshwar, the fifth and final Kedar. It is the only Panch Kedar temple accessible throughout the year. After darshan, return to Urgam for overnight stay.
End your Panch Kedar journey with a long scenic drive back to Rishikesh, carrying blessings, peace, and unforgettable memories of Lord Shiva’s sacred path.
